Abel through the decades
Over 50 years of security expertise
Abel was founded in 1965
Abel Alarm was founded by Mr Peter J Eyre in 1965, when he decided to leave the security firm where he had worked for 17 years to start his own business. Abel has grown to be one of the largest privately owned security firms in the UK. Today, Mr Eyre’s grandson, Joel Mulloy, runs the business and is the Managing Director.
Building for the future
The head office, sales operations, manufacturing and service division were installed in newly constructed premises, where Abel opens its first Central Station with a ceremony performed by Sir Henry Tate.
Servicing businesses to meet their security needs
Throughout the 1980s, Abel increases its product range as new technologies enter the market.
Expanding the Abel branch network
Abel Alarm now operates from 13 branches across the UK. To increase our national footprint, we acquired several security businesses. Pictured here is our first Newcastle branch.
Launching the Abel network
Abel launches its own network, enabling its Communication Monitoring Centre to work with businesses to provide safe and more cost effective connection.

Joel Mulloy appointed Managing Director
Joel Mulloy began working at his Grandfather’s company in 2002 in the ICT department and continued to progress through the team. In 2017, he was appointed as Managing Director.

Our fire alarm systems are also certificated to the SP203 BAFE (British Approvals Fire Equipment) scheme, the independent register of quality fire safety service providers.
We design and engineer our alarm, access control and fire safety systems from our head office in Leicester. Our range of security services goes from alarm systems with video verification to automation of indoor and outdoor spaces. Abel Alarm are registered members of the ECA (Electrical Contractors Association) and FSA (Fire & Security Association), certified NSI Gold, as well as members of the UVDB and a BAFE registered company.
