Why you should check your security system supplier’s credentials

How do you make sure you supplier has the relevant skills, abilities and experience to protect your business or home? One of the best ways is by making sure they are independently inspected, accredited and conform to the regulatory framework in which the industry operates.

Abel's commitment to this way of working makes them one of the most trusted and reliable providers of electronic security services in the UK. Here are some of the ways in which they are carrying that commitment forward...

With the introduction of the Fire Safety Order in October 2006, those involved with fire precautions have to be competent with a legal duty on the "Responsible Person" to carry out risk assessments. Abel can assist clients in these matters - this means you'll be keeping your employees safe and reducing the risk of prosecution by complying with your Health and Safety responsibilities. Abel also holds accreditation to BAFE SP 203 introduced by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) in response to the Chief Fire Officer's Association's (CFOA) policy on monitored alarms.

Inspection by the NSI is also an essential requirement to obtain a Police response, and this is in line with the Association of Chief Police Officers  (ACPO) policy for intruder alarms, hold up devices and CCTV. As well as this they are committed to the use of Confirmed Technology and the PD662 Scheme for European Standards which has dramatically improved the performance and reliability of installed systems.

Abel's Communication and Monitoring Centre is manned for CCTV by Security Industry Association (SIA) licensed staff, and has achieved the approval to monitor intruder signals, fire signals, remote video and detector activated systems in line with BS8418. What's more the whole centre conforms and operates to BS 5979 standard.

Abel regularly runs training programmes to make sure their staff are up to date with current regulations and working to the most recent legislation. In today's environment Health and Safety plays an increasingly significant role. This is why Abel has made sure their engineers have achieved the requirements of the JIB ECS Certification Scheme for Health and Safety Assessment. This means they are certified to work on garage forecourts through the Safety Pass Alliance in Association with the United Kingdom Petroleum Industry Association (UKPIA)

So when you next review your electronic security services provider, it's worth checking to make sure they have the accreditations necessary to give you the reassurance that you'll receive the highest possible standards.

With Abel you'll have the comfort of knowing that they are regularly third-party inspected and assessed for design, installation and monitoring.
