Jonathan O’Neill, Managing Director of the Fire Protection Association, has won the Ian Marsh Award at the 2014 ECA Annual Awards.

Sponsored by the FSA, the Ian Marsh Award recognises individuals that demonstrate enthusiasm and selfless concern for the fire and emergency systems industry. It is named after the ECA's former Technical Manager, Ian Marsh, who passed away in 2012, and was an enthusiastic supporter of the FSA and its work to support companies in the sector.

Jonathan won the award in recognition of his work at the FPA. In his fifteen years as managing director, he has overseen the organisation’s independence from the Loss Prevention Council and managed them through two relocations.
“Jonathan is a very worthy winner of this award,” said FSA Chairman, Pat Allen, “He has worked tirelessly to ensure the FPA’s success and ensure that the industry has a voice at Government, European and Global level.  We called upon his expertise at FSA, and still remain grateful to him for his help when we launched a series of dual branded guidance documents to changes in standards for fire systems. He is an excellent ambassador for the sector and I congratulate him on his award win.”

Jonathan O’Neill said: “I’m delighted to have won this award. It’s a fascinating time for the industry, as changes in technology and legislation mean we are constantly having to review and update our approach to fire protection.”
